This post is dedicated to my cat, even though she will never know. She nearly passed away last week and I am glad that she is back home and healthy again. When things like that happen, you realize how much you actually love the animals around you. And this is what today's book is about: Hentig's essay is about his relationship to a cat called Poff (Paff in German) he was asked to look after for one year, whilst his friends were abroad. The cat, which is at first kind of a chore, and he make a deep connection and he realizes how pure, simple and delighting this kind of uncomplicated love can be. But this book is even more: it is a brief discourse on how love works and about the means of relationships. Without being cheesy Hentig describes how bonding works, how relationships affect us and how the friendship with a tomcat taught him the philosophical aspects of love. A kind, short book for all people who are in love and those that love their companion animals

all cats are different and so are these cookies
I chose a plain and simple recipe as this is what describes best what relationships between humans and animals are like - Hentig says they are pure - without complex psychological interweavings, without lies or phoniness and sincere in all means.
